WHAT WE LIKED THE MOST
What we liked the most during our stay was how central both Marina Suites and Marina Bayview Gran Canaria was in Puerto Rico. They are only a walking distance from the famous Playa de Puerto Rico and the nearby shops and restaurants.
Both hotels were overlooking the sea giving you a majestic view of the ocean while soaking in the sun by the infinity pool.
In Marina Suites, we got a room overlooking the harbour giving us a nice view of the ships from both the bedroom and out balcony.
Marina Suites has 216 rooms in 6 different categories: Suite with Terrace, Standard Suite, Select Suite, Premier Suite, Deluxe Suite, Double Suite all in nautical-inspired design and very spacious.
Marina Suites has 2 different restaurants: La Sirena who serves a variety of international dishes buffet style and Atlantic Pool Bar serving both local and international cuisine with a direct view over the sea. The breakfast buffet is served here. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet while we were there. They had a huge variety of both local and international breakfast to choose from, and a kitchen to make your omelets by request. The breakfast buffet exceeded my expectations! Atlantic Pool Bar also holds special events like barbecue evenings, so stay up to date during your stay for these. Unfortunately, we did not get to join any of these events but we would have loved to! Maybe next time 😉
Please note that there are dress codes for both restaurants. It is required not to wear swimwear while eating which we see as a fair requirement.
They also have a Yacht Club which is a cocktail bar where you can enjoy the wonderful view of the sunset by the ocean while sipping a drink or two. We sure did!
One of our favorite facilities were the Infinity pool. We spent plenty of our time there just relaxing and enjoying the sun. It was very relaxing. I thought it would be a lot noisier since it is a family hotel, but it wasn’t. There was a lot of people but they did not lack in sunbeds so don’t worry!
The other one was the ping pong table by kids area. As mentioned, it is a family hotel, so they have a playground for the kids. We enjoyed a few games of ping pong there.
For adults seeking relaxation or romantic moments by the sea, Marina Bayview is the perfect place for you. Marina Bayview has 114 rooms in 6 different categories: Apartment with Terrace, Apartment with Balcony, Select Apartment, Deluxe Apartment, Bayview Villa, Serendipity Villa. There is a whole other vibe in Marina Bayview since it is an adults-only hotel. The ambiance is more mature and laid back. A perfect place for couples or adults who wish to have some peace and privacy AND situated on the tip of a cliff giving you a constant view of the Azure waters of Puerto Rico
Marina Bayview also has an infinity pool surrounded by sun beds. Apart from this, they have a secluded area with loungers and cabanas + a Jacuzzi! Both places are good places to relax and enjoy the sun. Last and not least, they have a poolside bar! What more can you ask for?
If you wish to spoil yourself a bit, Marina Bayview has a wellness center that offers a range of treatments and a sauna to complete your spa experience. They also have a gym if you wish to stay in shape during your vacation.
They have one restaurant in Marina Bayview, La Ballena. Buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner are served here + a snack menu for you to enjoy both at the poolside or in your room. As in Marina Suites, they offer a breakfast buffet with a wide range of international and continental choices. I feel that this buffet was a deluxe version of the one in Marina Suite, which was already very good! La Ballena hosts a daily happy hour from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
Guests at Marina Bayview can take advantage of the facilities at sister property Marina Suites – otherwise, they can enjoy a pool, sauna, and spa treatments.
We stayed in their Premier Suite with a remarkable sea view from both our terrace and our bedroom. Such a delightful view to wake up to. The harbour also has its charm by night where all the lights from the shops and hotels are visible.
The Premier Suite is one of most exclusive accommodation options at the Marina Suites. They measure 65 m² and provide a bedroom with a double bed and direct sea views, fully equipped kitchen with Nespresso, welcome VIP amenities, private bathroom, iron and ironing board and two 32-inch TVs, one in the lounge and the other in the bedroom.
We enjoyed the spacious suite and were very happy to see that there was a fully equipped kitchen since we like cooking food once and a while. This room is suitable for longer stays especially for families as it is like a mini apartment. It had everything that we needed.
At Marina Bayview, we got to stay in their Apartment with Balcony. All their apartments are overlooking the ocean. We got one overlooking the pool area as well.
These adults-only apartments measure 37 m² and offer a private balcony with beautiful views. It was a bit smaller than the one in Marina Suites, but still with a living room area and fully equipped kitchen.
Both areas are very central to Puerto Rico's city center, beaches, and local taverns and restaurants. Everything is in walking distance so no worry. Marina Bayview just requires a tad more climb since it is located by the tip of a cliff. There is a lot of taxi’s if you should be too tired for the inclined walk so don’t worry :d
HOW TO GET THERE
We took the hotel transfer to Marina Suites, but if you prefer public transportation, here are the options below:
BY BUS FROM LAS PALMAS AIRPORT
You can take bus 1 and 91 from the airport. It takes approximately 1.5 hours to Puerto Rico center. The ticket costs 10 euros. From there, you can take a taxi or walk to Marina Suites and Bayview. It's 15 mins away on foot, but we recommend taking a cab, especially if you're heading towards Bayview.
BY CAB FROM LAS PALMAS AIRPORT
You can also take a cab all the way to the hotel. It costs around 40 euros. We took the cab back to the airport upon departure since we missed our bus hehe,
